In Germany, the XXXL furniture stores comprise the following channels: XXXLutz, XXXL Neubert, XXXL Hiendl, XXXL Mann Mobilia, XXXL Emslander, XXXL Bierstorfer and XXXL Gamerdinger. In addition, there is the brand Mömax, which cater exactly to the different wishes of our clients on account of its target group-oriented range of products.

Founding year: 1945
1945 saw the founding of the company in Haag am Hausruck.
To begin with there were Austrian handicrafts: hand painted wooden boxes and rustic furniture formed the first range of products.
In the following decade, there was a permanent, step-by-step expansion to furniture dealer.
In the 70’s, the strategies for a modern company development evolved. The goal was: success through expansion.
From the very outset, this path was characterised by a positive turnover and revenue success.
1989 saw the opening of the discount furniture store “Möbelix”. The leap into Germany took place one year later.
In 2003, the company took over market leadership in Austria with a total turnover of 1.25 billion euro.
With around 150 furnishing stores in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, the XXXLutz Group is the second largest furniture dealer in the world today.

The clearly defined goal of the XXXLutz Group is to be the number 1 in Europe. The logical consequence: the better the employee is trained, the better the company is equipped for the future. That is why the XXXLutz Group views its continual advancement as an important investment in the future.
Permanent training and further education
For around 1,800 trainees, this starts with the intensive training programme that guarantees a qualified apprenticeship. However, this also includes a permanent internal advanced training programme for all employees in the XXXLutz training academy.
Together with a performance-oriented payment, this commitment by the company makes an important contribution to work motivation.
Success through state-of-the art logistics!
In 2001, the XXXLutz-Group’s highly efficient logistics centre was created on 40,000 m².
A fully developed EDP system combined with a streamline organisation and an ingenious combination of pallet and Corlette® storage on around 30,000 m² ensures the fastest possible delivery to all customers.

In the past three decades, the XXXLutz Group was characterised by a continual and – for the furniture branch – above-average increase in turnover and revenue. With a turnover in excess of 2.8 billion, the company became the world’s second largest furniture dealer in 2009.
The opening up of new growth segments and the strengthening of its own position among the competitors are the challenges that the XXXLutz Group has set itself for the near future. In order to manage the leap towards number 1, the XXXLutz Group must consistently continue along the successful path of internationalisation.
The profile of the XXXLutz brand and the strengthening of the market leadership are based upon our customers’ satisfaction – without any “ifs” or “buts”. In order to fulfil their wishes as optimally and rapidly as possible, the XXXLutz Group not only places value on the utmost quality - internally and externally: this concerns both the professional expertise and consulting skills of the XXXLutz team, as well as the sustained cooperation with suppliers and partners, right through to the choice of the outlet sites.
The XXXLutz Group’s strength lies in always having its finger on the pulse and knowing the target group-specific (furnishing) trends.
The crucial strategic point is therefore the further expansion of the XXXLutz brands and channels, which make it possible to offer a range that is tailor-made for the respective target group.
This goes hand in hand with a further internationalisation of the company: the focus here is particularly on Eastern Europe. The opening of new markets ensures a strengthening of the position on the purchase market and, subsequently, a decisive competitive advantage.Since 1973, the XXXLutz Group has successfully found itself on a course of expansion. An average of six new furniture stores have been opened every year.
XXXLutz is currently operating 49 furnishing stores, among others, throughout Austria. The sites are optimally complemented by 47 Möbelix discount markets, nine Mömax and three Ambient outlets.
In Germany, XXXLutz owns nine full-service furnishing stores, ten Mömax outlets, seven Mannmobilia shops, two Neubert outlets, four Hiendl outlets, as well as a shop from XXXL Emslander, XXXL Bierstorfer and XXXL Gamerdinger.
The leap into Eastern Europe took place in September 2007 with the opening of the first Möbelix branch in Budweis. In the Czech Republic, the XXXLutz Group meanwhile has additional sites in Prague, Brünn, Ostrava and the Ústí and a full service XXXLutz branch in Prague
One highlight during our expansion was the opening of Swedens first XXXLutz flagship store in Malmö.
During the course of 2008, we have founded three branches in Hungary (Budapest, Miskolc and Györ) and one in Slovakia (Bratislava).
As a midterm goal, the XXXLutz Group will systematically further consolidate its network of sites and push ahead with the expansion in Eastern Europe.In order to consistently implement its successful expansion strategy, the XXXLutz Group is continually on the look out for suitable new and existing spaces in the best business locations.
The selection of the respective site represents one of the most fundamental decisions. A comprehensive analysis of the respective market situation is a prerequisite. On the basis of this result, the best possible product range mix is then determined in line with the target group.The philosophy of the XXXLutz Group is: for marketing to be successful in the long run it must not be oriented on short-term, promotion-driven implementations, but rather should be based on the sustained application of conceptional planning.
Researching, analysing, processing of basic strategic principles are equally a part of this, as are a basis of long lasting trust with suppliers or the cooperative approach towards our employees and their advancement.
They’ve been in action since 1999: the classic TV and radio advertising for Austria’s largest furniture dealer is inseparably linked with the Putz family. The four-member advertising family has meanwhile mutated into the personification of the XXXL Group. Their message, packaged in humorous stories, is clearly: “Service, selection, offering – at XXXLutz everything is XXXL!”
This communications strategy has been carried through consistently; the integration of the XXXL concept is applicable to the architecture, the sites, the services, the range, as well as to the (promotional) communication.
